Role Description As DPA & CSO, you will be the Company's focal point for maritime safety, regulatory compliance, and security management. Reporting directly to senior management, you will ensure that our vessel operates in full compliance with international maritime regulations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
You will play a strategic role in supporting vessel operations, managing safety and security risks, coordinating audits and inspections, and ensuring effective communication between ship and shore. This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the Company's performance, resilience, and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the direct link between vessel personnel and senior management.
- Monitor the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure compliance with the ISM Code and applicable maritime regulations.
- Coordinate internal audits, inspections,
corrective actions, and management reviews.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventive measures.
- Ensure adequate shore-based resources and support are available for safe vessel operations.
- Provide assistance during emergencies and critical operational situations.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Company's security management framework.
- Maintain and review Ship Security Plans (SSP) and Ship Security Assessments (SSA).
- Liaise with Ship Security Officers (SSOs), Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs), Flag State authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate security drills, exercises, training activities, and awareness programs.
- Monitor security threats and advise management on appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with the ISPS Code and applicable security requirements.
- Maintain security-related records, reports, and documentation.
Qualifications
- Precvious experience in a maritime, offshore, or vessel management environment.
- Proven experience as DPA, CSO, or in a similar compliance, safety, quality, or security role.
- Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and maritime industry best practices.
- Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and management system reviews.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills:
- Ability to work autonomously and interact effectively with vessel crews, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
- Availability to support operational and emergency situations when required.
