Overview

As a Staff Engineer at Emburse, you will shape the technical foundations of our enterprise‐scale SaaS while delivering critical systems hands‐on. You'll mentor engineers, drive microservice and cloud architectures, and ensure scalability, reliability, and security across distributed systems. You'll partner with cross‐functional teams to align technical direction with business goals, delivering high‐impact solutions that improve how customers manage expenses and invoices.

Responsabilidades Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for enterprise‐scale SaaS applications

Contribute hands‐on to critical coding projects

Drive design and implementation of microservice and cloud‐based systems

Ensure scalability, reliability, and security across distributed systems

Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to align technical direction with business goals

Write clean, testable code and elevate team practices around testing and quality





Mentor engineers at all levels and raise the bar for design, code reviews, and system thinking

Requisitos principales 10+ years of professional software engineering experience

At least 3 years designing and scaling microservices systems

Strong background in distributed systems, event‐driven architecture, and REST/gRPC APIs

Deep expertise in modern object oriented programming

Proficiency with Java in a microservice ecosystem

Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes)

Cloud‐native platform experience (preferably AWS)

Proven success building and scaling web technologies / SaaS products

Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, and message queues

Familiarity with Agile development
