Rolls-Royce SMR has been selected in two highly-competitive European markets – the Czech Republic and the UK – and is shortlisted as one of two finalists in Sweden’s ongoing procurement process.

There is a revival in demand for civil nuclear energy in Europe, with multiple nations committing to increasing nuclear capacity and European Commission President Ursula Van von der Leyen saying nuclear will need to be the baseload of Europe’s future energy mix.

This puts Rolls-Royce SMR is in the prime position to be the leader in the emerging SMR market across the Continent.

The successful candidate will sit between Corporate Affairs and Business Development, and play a pivotal role in building the Rolls-Royce SMR brand in Brussels, influencing policies that impact our customers and our business and managing stakeholder engagement with EU officials and representatives of key member states.

The role will primarily cover three main priorities:

- Understanding and influencing policies that impact both Rolls-Royce SMR business operations and our customers
- Communications and relationship management – building our profile in Brussels with key stakeholders (MEPs/Commissioners/officials) relevant to our priority markets
- Supporting our business development campaigns across the region through engagement with stakeholders from key EU member states

Key roles and responsibilities:

- Policy areas include: Industrial Accelerator Act, FSR, State Aid, regulatory harmonisation
- Tasks will include monitoring for potential new policies, analysing policy, working with customers to understand potential impacts, and formulating plans to influence.
- The successful candidate will understand capability development funding, and work with colleagues in operations, engineering R&T;,



human resources and business development functions to maximise our opportunities to access external funding to support our business activities.
- You will be a seasoned networker and be capable of immediately devising and implementing a stakeholder management strategy to support business objectives including those relating to policy, funding support and business development.
- As well as engaging with relevant Commission stakeholders to understand the policy landscape, the candidate will work closely with MEPs, Commissioners and other relevant stakeholders in our key markets, becoming an important and trusted link between stakeholders and Rolls-Royce SMR.
- The candidate will collaborate closely with Brussels based representatives from our shareholders, key partners, customers and British and Czechia government missions in support of Rolls-Royce SMR’s objectives
- You will work closely with business development colleagues, providing intelligence and supporting strategy development and execution for key market campaigns.
- You will represent Rolls-Royce SMR at industry events in Brussels and Strasbourg, and engage with key groups in Brussels on an ongoing basis, for example the SMR Industrial Alliance, NuclearEurope.
- You will also have experience of effective stakeholder engagement events and be able to advise Corporate Affairs colleagues on events we could host, assisting in organising them.
- Responsibility for building our profile in Brussels,



so will need to have a track record in successful stakeholder management at an EU level.
- Responsibility for stakeholder mapping, and quickly implementing a strategy to grow our network – with a focus on MEPs, Commissioners, attaches, embassies and relevant groups and bodies.

The successful candidate will have:

- Background in EU policy – and be able to interpret how ongoing and emerging policies and regulations – such as the IAA - will impact both our customers and Rolls-Royce SMR.
- Established experience of working in policy and regulation, with a significant part of that focused on EU policy.
- Senior experience across Corporate Affairs and/or Business Development.
- You will be able to identify policies and regulations that impact both our business, and our customers.
- In addition to policy and regulation, you will also understand the capability development funding environment and be able to work with colleagues across the business to maximise our opportunities to access external funding.
- Experience of event management, and be able to propose events to host in Brussels to influence key stakeholders. They will also attend relevant external events that help to build a deeper understanding of European energy and industrial policy and how changes may impact Rolls-Royce SMR.

This role will be home based/ hybrid based from Brussels, Belgium. There may be some international travel required on an ad hoc basis.

Salary range is between €95,000 - €124,000 plus competitive benefits package
