We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team in Malaga, Spain in a remote working mode. In this role, you will develop and enhance backend services supporting MLS Touch and MLS Client, two mobile applications enabling real estate professionals and their clients to collaborate seamlessly throughout the property search and transaction journey.

You will design and maintain REST APIs, scalable microservices, and optimized data layers, ensuring security, performance and reliability. The position requires availability to work under a US-aligned schedule: approximately 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Spain time (ending at 3:00 PM CST). This schedule is essential to collaborate effectively with the distributed team and stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to leverage modern Java technologies, optimize backend architectures and make use of AI-assisted development tools to enhance code quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain REST APIs for mobile applications and external integrations
- Work with MySQL databases, including schema design, query optimization and troubleshooting
- Contribute to the design and improvement of a scalable, microservices-based architecture
- Implement secure, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practices
- Diagnose defects, resolve production incidents and performance bottlenecks
- Participate in code reviews, solution design and technical discussions
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers and product teams to deliver backend components
- Ensure observability,



monitoring and CI/CD integration for stability and automation
- Apply AI-assisted coding tools to improve quality and efficiency where appropriate

Requirements

- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot development
- Knowledge of REST API principles, microservices architectures and distributed systems
- Proficiency in MySQL including data modeling, query optimization and SQL tuning
- Understanding of clean coding practices, design principles and test automation
- Experience with unit and integration test frameworks
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools and Git version control
- Awareness of application security including authentication and secure API development
- Ability to troubleshoot production systems using logs, monitoring and metrics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in distributed teams
- English proficiency for communication with international stakeholders
- Ability to work US-aligned hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Spain time (up to 3:00 PM CST is mandatory)

Nice to have

- Background in real estate platforms, MLS systems or high-volume data environments
- Experience with mobile application backends or cloud infrastructure
