Overview

As Lead AI Engineer, you design, build and deploy production-ready AI applications at global scale, with a hands-on focus on GenAI, Azure OpenAI, and RAG. You will establish an internal AI center of excellence, collaborating with data engineers and business teams to move use cases from PoC to production. You will influence tech standards, mentor engineers, and drive high-impact AI initiatives across the organization. This role offers remote work from Spain (or hybrid if in Barcelona) and a clear path to technical leadership.

Responsabilidades

- Design, build and deploy production-ready AI applications using Generative AI, Azure OpenAI, RAG, and intelligent automation
- Seamless enterprise integration with core data platforms and business applications
- Hands-on development including production-grade Python code, APIs, and RAG pipelines
- Scale AI use cases across global business units with reliability and performance
- Collaborate with data engineering, BI, and cross-functional teams to ship unified solutions
- Define KPIs to measure cost, adoption, and ROI of AI tools




- Provide technology leadership and evaluate latest AI breakthroughs while setting internal standards
- Share knowledge and mentor other engineers; contribute to AI engineering best practices
- Collaborate with Data Engineers responsible for the data platform while owning the AI app layer

Requisitos principales

- Hands-on AI engineering with daily coding and production work
- Practical experience with premier LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude) and prompt engineering
- Strong expertise in RAG architecture, embeddings, vector search, and document processing
- Expert Python development for production APIs and AI apps
- Understanding of data lake / lakehouse platforms and API-based system integration with ERP/CRM
- Azure-centric cloud experience: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Functions, App Services
- MLOps / LLMOps lifecycle for live environment deployment and monitoring
- Security, governance & compliance knowledge including RBAC and EU AI Act awareness
