As a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team, you will shape the direction and implementation of high-performance search features. You’ll work with a globally distributed team to enhance relevance and speed, contribute to vector search capabilities, and tackle tough bugs and algorithmic challenges. You’ll engage with the open source community and collaborate across functions to deliver scalable, intuitive search experiences. Lead initiatives to deliver industry-leading search with unparalleled speed and relevance
Build new search features, fix bugs, and simplify the codebase; sometimes invent new algorithms or data structures
Contribute to vector search capabilities and Elasticsearch relevance improvements
Collaborate with a globally distributed team and engage with community issues and PRs
Write idiomatic Java and contribute across modules to own components
Requisitos principales
Experience with vector similarity techniques at scale on search platforms
Professional work with search or vector databases and algorithms (e.g., HNSW, IVF)
Strong Java skills and familiarity with data structures, concurrency, and lambdas
Ability to work autonomously and guide projects from design xqbhyrx to delivery
Experience with data stores like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code
Ability to collaborate across functions and work asynchronously in distributed teams
Autonomy and self-direction
Collaborative mindset with strong code review and feedback
