As a DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer, you will provide technical leadership and operational support for a large, multi-subsystem DB2 environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure availability, performance, security, and DR readiness across regions. This role offers impact through strategic upgrades, performance optimization, and resilient database operations. You will work in a complex enterprise setting, driving automation and reliability in support of business-critical applications.
Responsabilidades
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 for z/OS environments
Support a large-scale enterprise DB2 infrastructure with multiple subsystems
Plan and execute DB2 version upgrades, migrations, and maintenance
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for DB2-based applications
Ensure stability, integrity, availability, and performance of DB2 databases
Support and manage Distributed Data Facility (DDF) and distributed DB2 connectivity
Maintain and optimize OLTP environments using CICS and DB2
Monitor performance and implement tuning recommendations
Perform capacity planning and growth forecasting
Develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and DR procedures
Ensure storage management, archiving, and retention processes
Implement and manage database security controls and access governance




Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues
Collaborate with application teams on design, deployment, and problem resolution
Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements
Maintain technical documentation, operational standards, and support procedures
Ensure database and monitoring solutions are kept on supported versions
Requisitos principales
Typically 8 to 15+ years of IBM Mainframe Systems Programming with strong DB2 for z/OS administration
Experience supporting large-scale DB2 environments with multiple subsystems
DB2 installation, migration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other mission-critical environments preferred
Hands-on xqbhyrx experience with high-volume OLTP using CICS and DB2
DB2 for z/OS (must have), z/OS, SMP/E, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF
Experience installing/upgrading DB2 releases and providing Level 2/3 support
Understanding of Distributed DB2 Connectivity (DDF)
Expertise in: DB2 Performance Monitoring & Tuning, Capacity Planning, Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Database Security Administration
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in production
