We are currently supporting a major international technology organisation with an urgent requirement for an experienced Senior Databricks Data Engineer .

Location: Portugal or Spain

Working Model: Fully Remote

Start Date: 1 October 2026

Duration: 3 months + extensions

Rate: €30–€40/hour

Contract/B2B/Autonomo The successful consultant will support the design and development of scalable enterprise data products and cloud-based data solutions using Databricks.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong experience across modern Databricks architecture, data pipelines, governance and large-scale data processing.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks
- Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes for large-scale enterprise workloads
- Build data models and data products using Delta Lake
- Implement Medallion Architecture principles
- Develop solutions using PySpark, Python and SQL
- Work with structured, semi-structured and streaming data




- Implement and manage data governance using Unity Catalog
- Support data quality, metadata, lineage and governance initiatives
- Optimise data processing performance, scalability and reliability
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Product Owners and business stakeholders
- Support automated testing, CI/CD and deployment processes

Required Experience

- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
- 3+ years of hands-on Databricks experience
- Strong PySpark development experience
- Strong Python
- Advanced SQL
- Delta Lake
- Medallion Architecture
- Unity Catalog
- ETL/ELT pipeline development
- Data modelling and data warehousing
- Git and CI/CD
- Cloud-based data platforms
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams

Candidates must be based in Portugal or Spain and available to start around 1 October .
