Department Description

Within Group Control, the Reporting & Analysis department focuses primarily on the production, analysis and reporting of financial and management information. The core customers of the department are the Group’s Board of Directors as well as shareholders. The department maintains close working relationships with business units across the group to be able to understand and compile business performance analytics from different business units, and also produce our own consolidated analytics.

The department needs to be able to explain how business performance is developing across the Group and how this translates into financial results and performance indicators. In a Group with commercial operations in over 50 countries, a Group Controller is in a privileged position to observe how the entire Group’s performance is developing, how, and where. This also comes with a responsibility to present this information for decision support to the Board of Directors in an accurate and timely manner.

The members of the department work closely as a team, supporting each other in the collective responsibility the department has to the group, internal customers and stakeholders.

This is a permanent position located at the Atradius headquarters in Madrid.

Production, analysis and distribution of financial management information and financial performance analytics.

The candidate will work alongside the rest of the team, focusing on analysing business performance through the different financial reporting standard applied and underlying business performance metrics in order to develop relevant reports (to assist local/regional controllers and for reporting to management) and produce analytical insights into business performance and factors influencing these in any given month.





In this position your key responsibilities will be:

- Develop a strong understanding of products, business lines and commercial operations.
- Business performance and financial performance analytics, including variance analyses.
- Analyses on the development of performance by business unit and relative financial impacts.
- Liasing with the designated business partners to Group Control from within commercial units.
- Month-end closing processes which include pre-closing estimates, activities for the careful monitoring of the closing process as well as the timely production of post-closing deliverables.
- Timely production and delivery of management information reporting for the Board of Directors, including executive narratives explaining how different developments in business performance have resulted in the financial results (or variances) of the period.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and deep-dives on demand.
- Develop and maintain reporting and analytical models in Excel and other environments.
- Participate in internal projects, as a crucial Group function within the organisation.
- Be the primary Group Control contact and knowledge expert for on one or more dedicated business units.

What qualification should you have? The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

Required qualifications

- 3 - 5 years or relevant experience (preferably within the insurance sector) in finance, financial controlling or audit functions.
- University degree in Business Administration, finance, economics or similar.
- English and Spanish C1 level. All communication (spoken and written) outside the department will be in English.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in analysing financial performance trends or metrics.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS17 knowledge is a plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / 365 applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.



Experience with ERPs (such as Oracle Hyperion / HFM) is a plus.

- Highly engaged and self-driven to learn and understand the “how” and “why” of the business and its performance.
- Team player who is both able and enjoys working collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, understanding the criticality of meeting to deadlines.
- A corporate/group role means having a flexible attitude towards ad-hoc requests or deadlines established by senior/executive management, and the ability to thrive in a large organisation
