About Cakewalk
Cakewalk is access management for the entire workforce: AI agents and human identities. We built a single platform to govern and secure access in companies through policy-first access management, runtime provisioning, and identity-linked lifecycles.
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (m/f/d) to join our ambitious engineering team and help accelerate our product development.
You will join a team of 10 engineers as a senior individual contributor, reporting to an Engineering Manager. This role is for someone who combines technical strength, grit, and self-reflection, and who is excited to take meaningful ownership in a fast-moving environment.
About the Role
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will build and improve customer-facing functionality across our frontend and backend. You will own features from early product discussions through implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.
You will collaborate closely with Product and Customer Success to understand customer needs and turn them into reliable, maintainable solutions. You will also help us improve and expand our AI-augmented engineering workflows while remaining fully accountable for the quality, security, and architecture of the resulting code.
The approximate focus of the role is:
- 45% backend engineering
- 25% frontend engineering
- 20% AI tooling and agentic engineering workflows
- 10% infrastructure and platform engineering
What You’ll Do Build and own product functionality
- Design, build, test, and release new frontend and backend features.
- Take end-to-end ownership of your work, including technical design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.
- Make sound architectural decisions around design patterns, reusable components, APIs, data models, and system boundaries.
- Help expand a product that governs access for both human users and AI agents.
Contribute to product development
- Collaborate with Product during the early stages of feature design.
- Provide both technical and functional input on proposed solutions.
- Work closely with Customer Success to understand customer needs and implementation challenges.
- Translate customer and product requirements into reliable technical solutions.
Advance AI-augmented engineering
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable IDE-integrated agents to build, test, document, and review software.
- Work with our existing agentic engineering workflows and help improve and expand them.
- Create and maintain reusable agent skills, contextual instructions, and related patterns that accelerate development and promote architectural consistency.
- Standardize the context provided to coding agents through approaches such as AGENTS.md, skills, and similar mechanisms.
- Maintain strict human-in-the-loop accountability for code quality, security, and architectural decisions.
- Act as the final reviewer of AI-generated output and ensure that it meets our engineering standards.
Maintain a high quality bar
- Write clean, reliable, secure, and maintainable code.
- Apply effective testing practices.
- Review code critically, regardless of whether it was written by a human or generated with AI assistance.
- Treat bugs as an immediate priority. We do not knowingly leave defects in the platform: when we identify a bug, we fix it.
- Contribute to technical documentation and Architecture Decision Records.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly across engineering and non-engineering teams.
What We Expect
You should have
- At least four years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Engineer.
- Strong professional experience building backend services and single-page web applications.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, React, C# and .NET Core or closely comparable frontend technologies.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable development agents.
- Experience managing or contributing to agentic development workflows.
- A strong understanding of domain-driven design and experience applying it to production systems.
- Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- A good understanding of HTTP, OAuth, OpenID Connect, encryption, and API security.
- Experience making data-informed technical decisions and clearly explaining the reasoning and trade-offs behind them.
- Experience writing technical documentation, including Architecture Decision Records.
- Experience implementing integration testing strategies.
- Experience working with component libraries or design systems such as Material UI, styled-components, or comparable technologies.
- An understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, together with the analytical skills needed to verify and refine AI-generated solutions.
- Fluent English and the ability to communicate comfortably with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Availability during our core collaboration hours of 10:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. CET.
A bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related subject is an advantage, but not a strict requirement. Prior experience in Identity and Access Management or cybersecurity is not required. However, we expect the security awareness and foundational understanding appropriate for a senior software engineer.

Think Big. Iterate Fast. Reflect Openly.
We focus on what is possible, prioritize outcomes over busy activity, and work in short cycles. We value deep thinking, radical transparency, and root-cause analysis over blame.
Everyone Sells Cakewalk
We are a product-driven organization, but our North Star is commercial success. Everything we do is ultimately for our customers.

- How you approach challenging engineering problems.
- How you make and communicate technical decisions.
- Whether our culture and working style align with the environment in which you do your best work.
- How you can grow professionally and personally at Cakewalk.
- How AI has affected your engineering workflow and judgment.
We openly use AI in our engineering work, but we place a high value on genuine human interaction. Please do not use AI tools during live interview conversations. It is always better to acknowledge that you do not know something than to rely on AI for an immediate answer. Be prepared to discuss engineering principles, design patterns, clean architecture, domain-driven design, testing strategies, API design, and API security. We will be interested in your decision-making process, how you solve problems, and how you write and review code.
When sharing examples from your experience, we recommend using the CARR model:
- Context: What was the situation or problem?
- Action: What did you do?
- Results: What was the outcome?
- Reflection: What did you learn, and how did you grow?
Humility drives learning. During the process, you may receive direct feedback. We value candidates who listen carefully, reflect openly, and apply what they learn. Before interviewing, we encourage you to learn about Cakewalk, our product, and the Identity and Access Management industry. Think about what distinguishes our approach and how your experience could help us build the governance layer for a workforce made up of both humans and AI agents.
A Final Note
We welcome candidates with different backgrounds and experiences. Studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every listed qualification.
If you are excited about Cakewalk and believe you can succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply and allow our team to assess your experience.
