About the Country/Multi-Country Office Established in 2004, the UNOPS Amman Multi-Country Office (MCO) provides strategic and operational support to partners across Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and the Gulf countries. The MCO delivers solutions that address development, peace, and humanitarian challenges through infrastructure, procurement, project management, and human resources services.
Working in close collaboration with national governments, UN agencies, and donors, the office supports efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. The UNOPS Middle East Region (MR) provides strategic leadership, performance oversight, and support to UNOPS operations across Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and the State of Palestine.
The Electrical
Engineer applies fundamental electrical engineering concepts to gather and analyze technical data, supporting project managers and specialists in the design, supervision, and documentation of electrical systems associated with infrastructure projects, including power supply, pumping systems and solar energy systems where applicable. This role contributes to ensuring high-quality design documentation, compliance with technical requirements, and adherence to international standards and HSSE guidelines. Contribute to needs assessments for electrical systems associated with potable water supply and irrigation infrastructure, including power supply systems, pumps/motors, control systems and solar PV systems.
Contribute to project planning, scheduling,
and integrated design development through collaboration with team members. Contribute to the oversight of contract deliverables, ensuring alignment with contract terms and international standards. Contribute to the coordination of system testing, commissioning, training, and final handover to beneficiaries Contribute to ensuring contractors' compliance with Quality Management Plan, Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) plans, and international best practices.
Contribute to the coordination and documentation of meetings with stakeholders, preparing meeting minutes for project discussions. Analyze project progress, identifying adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Technical
Review and Quality Assurance Contribute to the review of electrical design accuracy and suitability, identifying potential improvements and recommending practical solutions. Contribute to ensuring all tasks meet applicable Quality Management Plan (QMP) and Quality Control (QC) standards. Prepare high-quality AutoCAD drawings and maintain accurate site records for project documentation.
Contribute to the archiving and management of design and engineering documentation for electrical and solar energy systems. Contribute to maintaining organized records, ensuring timely scheduling and tracking of project tasks. PSEAH measures are implemented throughout the project implementation, as per the country PSEAH action plan.
Deliver delegated tasks by the supervisor on time and as per the required cost and quality parameters. Ensure that projects design and construction are prepared and performed with high quality, while observing the applicable local, international and UN standards and ensure adherence to relevant Health, Safety,
Security and Environmental procedures and Protection against Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment. AutoCAD, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Technical Writing Actions lead to total task accomplishment through concern for quality in all areas.
Performance is consistent, even under pressure. Evaluates data and courses of action to reach logical, pragmatic decisions. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university with 2 years of relevant experience Possession of Project Management Certificates Membership in a recognized professional engineering association is desirable A minimum of 2 years of experience in the design or supervision of electrical systems works Experience in designing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including related electrical components Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience in scheduling software, particularly Primavera and/or MS Project Certifications such as PVsyst, ETAP, or similar software; Certified Solar Professional (CSP); Photovoltaic (PV) Installation Professional Certification;
Experience in the design, rehabilitation or supervision of electrical systems associated with potable water supply, pumping stations, boreholes or similar infrastructure is desirable UNOPS will at no stage of the recruitment process request candidates to make payments of any kind.
