This position is for the APM Services team.
You will be building, improving, and maintaining the backend systems that sit at the heart of New Relic's APM product - from the agent lifecycle pipeline that handles millions of agent connections and registrations, to the metrics pipeline that ingests, processes, and stores timeslice data at massive scale. We work with data at scale, and our pipeline is built with a diverse tech stack (Kotlin, Java, Kafka, Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, public cloud services, and more). Build, maintain, and scale backend services across the APM data pipeline - from agent connection and registration through metric ingestion, processing, and storage Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach - teams build and maintain their own software, including participating in on‐call rotations Use AI tools to accelerate your development workflow, from writing and reviewing code to investigating production issues,
and help the team adopt what works Strong experience writing software in OOP languages (Kotlin, Java, Go, etc.) Comfort working in a fast‐paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools, and methodologies Proficiency in English Contributions to open source projects Understanding of the value that build and test automation brings to development team efficiency and reliability, with passion for applying these techniques Familiarity with large‐scale data pipelines: Kafka, Cassandra, or similar technologies Experience in technical mentorship and supporting colleagues' skill development Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
