Ona Therapeutics is a biotech company located in Barcelona (Parc Científic de Barcelona, PCB), focused on developing first-in-class antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) for advanced cancer treatment. By partnering with leading academics and clinicians, we identify novel therapeutic targets from the unique biology of treatment refractory for advanced cancer patients, to provide effective new treatments for patients with no remaining alternatives.
Scope The Laboratory Operations Assistant is responsible for day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring that facilities, equipment, consumables, and shared resources are maintained to the highest standards. The role supports the Head of Laboratory Operations with laboratory logistics, inventory, and maintenance, enabling researchers to conduct their work efficiently.
Role and Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the laboratory to ensure an organized, efficient, and functional working environment.
- Implement and continuously improve laboratory organization and operational workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, organization, and operational procedures.
- Develop and maintain best practices that enhance laboratory productivity and user experience.
- Provide operational support for laboratory activities, including preparation of shared laboratory resources, documentation, and sample collection materials.
- Maintain accurate operational records and coordinate with researchers to ensure efficient use of shared laboratory resources.
- Support research activities on an ad hoc basis, depending on team and project needs.
Inventory and Consumables Management
- Manage laboratory inventories and shared consumables, ensuring appropriate stock levels and storage organization.
- Coordinate replenishment of laboratory supplies and communicate purchasing requirements.
- Support the preparation/aliquoting of cell culture stocks.
- Support the cell culture laboratory by carrying out routine activities: (preparation/aliquoting reagents and media, mycoplasma testing, cell line biobanking).
Equipment and Facilities
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, servicing, and routine upkeep of laboratory equipment and shared facilities.
- Support the maintenance of specialized laboratory areas, including cell culture facilities and cold storage equipment.
Supplier Coordination
- Act as the primary operational contact between the laboratory, finance department, suppliers, and service providers.
- Coordinate deliveries, returns, equipment servicing, and laboratory logistics.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Coordinate waste management, labcoat, cleaning and inventory.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
Must have:
- Technicians' degree or equivalent experience in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, Laboratory Technology, or related discipline.
- Previous experience working in a biomedical or research laboratory.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan, and good skills in English.
Nice to have:
- Experience with laboratory inventory.
- Experience with cell culture laboratories.
- Experience coordinating laboratory operations and equipment maintenance.
