In this Senior Software Engineer role within Pearson’s AI Learning Capabilities for English Language Learning, you design and deliver backend systems that fuse AI and LLM capabilities into learning products. You work with cross‑functional teams to turn product ideas into scalable, secure services. You’ll lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and champion best practices across the SDLC, with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement. Responsabilidades

- Design, implement, and maintain backend components for digital products
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define objectives and timelines
- Lead projects and advocate backend best practices, supporting innovation
- Architect scalable backend services and APIs, including AI integration and microservices deployment
- Operationalize AI models with data science teams and ensure reliability and scalability
- Maintain technical documentation and mentor junior engineers
- Champion continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and DevOps‑aligned practices
- Ensure security and compliance in collaboration with relevant teams

Requisitos principales

- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in software engineering principles, development processes, and industry trends for development and QA
- Hands‑on experience with Python
- Proficiency in at least one modern cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Proficiency in software engineering best practices (code review, multi‑stage testing, CI/CD)
- Experience with scalable development (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with data processing (build pipelines, data versioning)
- Working experience in Agile practices, product and project management principles
