The Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) Research Group has
a twenty-year history providing clinical care and researching in
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), other motor neuron diseases
(hereditary spastic paraplegias, post-polio syndrome and spinal
muscular atrophies), as well as in myasthenia gravis, genetically
determined myopathies, and peripheral neuropathies. We are seeking
a Biomedical Sciences Graduate to support research projects in
immunology and neuromuscular disorders, focusing on the study of
disease mechanisms and the identification of novel biomarkers. Main
responsibilities and duties: Coordinate and manage the spectral
flow cytometry workflow as the transversal reference person for
both departments: panel design and optimisation, preparation of
unmixing and control samples, instrument set-up and quality
control, data acquisition, and the drafting and updating of the
corresponding standard operating procedures. This includes acting
as the point of contact for spectral cytometry across the
collaborating groups and providing technical guidance and training




to other team members. Provide support in the performance of the
remaining immunological assays required by the project, including
sample preparation, assay execution and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with the research teams and clinical staff of both
departments in the experimental design, execution of the studies
and critical discussion of results, contributing to the scientific
interpretation of the data in regular project meetings. Prepare and
organise the biological samples, reagents, materials and
documentation required for the development of the project,
including sample processing and biobanking, stock management,
orders and compliance with standard operating procedures. Analyse
the data generated by spectral flow cytometry and other
immunological techniques, using appropriate software tools,
including high-dimensional analysis approaches, and integrate the
results with the available clinical da
