We are currently looking for an International Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources Team in Barcelona, Spain. Reporting to the HR Advisor, the International Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing accurate and timely payroll operations across multiple European countries with a focus on high volume UK payrolls. This role collaborates with the Senior HR Payroll Specialist to ensure timely and accurate processing of all payrolls, also ensuring all employees are covered by eligible benefits, supports employees with payroll and benefits inquiries and contributes to audits, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
Payroll
Processing · Act as the main contact for international payroll providers for UK and other EU payrolls · Prepare and submit monthly payroll data, ensuring timely and accurate processing · Audit monthly returns/files and prepare annual tax documentation · Support audits and special payroll-related projects · Oversee the Ticket Restaurant program cycle for relevant payrolls, from vendor invoicing to employee card loading Tax &
• Compliance · Ensure compliance with local payroll laws and tax regulations.
· Responsible for filing payroll taxes and social security withholdings or coordinate with payroll providers. · Remain up to date with changes in tax laws and labor regulations. Coordinate cash forecasting for payroll and other compensation payments for payrolls · Maintain and update employee payroll records, including personal information, tax exemptions, and wage changes. Serve as a point of contact for employees, answering payroll-related questions and resolving discrepancies. · Circulate payslips and year-end tax documentation. Reporting, Reconciliation &
• Auditing · Assist Senior Payroll Specialist as required with ANV payroll accountant to provide documents for payroll reconciliations and audit‑related tasks and documentation Pension and Benefits Administration · Assist with administration of the pension and benefits related tasks for all UK &
• EU entities ensuring that new joiners have been added to plans, leavers removed · Co-ordinate with Reward Manager to ensure employee benefits and related deductions are applied according to local legislation for all payrolls and updated per benefits renewal cycle for each jurisdiction · General · Maintain up to date documentation of payroll processes and procedures.
· Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable payroll related legislation for the countries within remit · Assist with any ad hoc payroll and HR admin related tasks as required · Participate in any relevant payroll related projects · Complete the required number of hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as it pertains to your role and applicable qualifications and ensure this is logged in Workday. Fully participate in all applicable fitness and proprietary and Performance Review processes. Promptly advise your line manager/HR as to any matter that may be relevant and/or impact your ability to perform in your role. · Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources or related field preferred. Proven significant payroll management experience in UK &
• Europe (ideally having dealt with some or all of the following countries - Italy, Spain, UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France). · Extensive UK payroll management experience is required. · Experience with Italian payroll is a plus. · Experience in payroll migrations, the establishment and set-up of payroll for new legal entities across global jurisdictions, and end-to-end payroll implementation is desirable but not essential. Ability to analyze payroll data and identify discrepancies. · Proficiency with payroll systems and software tools. · Knowledge of tax laws, wage laws, and fiscal procedures in UK and Europe. · Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish is required; fluency in Italian, Swedish or French is a plus. · Experience working with ADP payroll systems and partner companies.
