As a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team, you will shape the direction and implementation of advanced search capabilities at Scale. You’ll work with a globally distributed team to deliver fast, relevant search experiences and contribute to improvements in Lucene. The role blends feature development, bug fixes, and potential new algorithms, with a strong emphasis on autonomous, collaborative execution. Responsabilidades
- Lead initiatives to deliver industry-leading search with top speed and relevance
- Build new search features, fix bugs, and simplify code; potentially invent algorithms or data structures
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team focusing on vector search capabilities
- Develop deep expertise in Elasticsearch search relevance and drive improvements
- Engage with community members via issues and pull requests,
triaging and handing off when needed
- Write idiomatic Java (Elasticsearch is primarily Java)
Requisitos principales
- Professional experience with search or vector databases at scale
- Strong core Java skills and knowledge of data structures, concurrency, and lambdas
- Ability to own projects from design to delivery with cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with asynchronous collaboration and distributed teamwork
- Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
- Track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code while owning outcomes
- Ability to adapt across projects and codebases based on business priorities
