Overview

As the founding backend engineer, you will own end-to-end integration design, code, and production systems that bring ClickHouse Cloud into trusted customer environments. You’ll set technical defaults that the growing team inherits and shape the architectural direction across multi-tenant and data-movement considerations. You’ll operate across trust boundaries, own on-call reliability, and collaborate with partner and internal teams to unblock progress. This role offers a chance to influence platform shape and policy from day one with a clear impact hook in a fast-growing, collaboration-focused startup.

Responsabilidades

- Own the architecture for authentication/identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement, and production reliability
- Run and maintain the built systems, including infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability
- Work with external platforms you cannot change, clearly delineating owned vs. non-owned risks
- Collaborate with internal services, define interfaces,



and maintain momentum despite blockers
- Document technical direction and decisions to shape the team’s future

Requisitos principales

- 5+ years building software, especially data-heavy or integration-focused systems
- Strong backend and systems instincts for deployment topology, multi-tenancy, and data movement
- Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across trust boundaries
- Experience integrating with third-party platforms and handling imperfect documentation or breaking changes
- Comfort with ambiguity, ability to ship under uncertainty, and ability to articulate tradeoffs
- Team-oriented, communicates well with other engineers and stakeholders
- Backend focus with sufficient JS/TS experience to assist when needed
- Proficient in using AI tools and transparent about usage
- Strong written communication for design docs, PRs, and RFCs
