Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer on Stripe's UI Platform (Sail) team, you shape the technical direction for backend services powering merchant-facing experiences. You combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership across backend engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver scalable platform capabilities. You will define cross-team strategy and multi-year roadmaps, lead the design and delivery of scalable services, and build reusable platform components. You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to connect the design system, SDKs, APIs, and backend services, while mentoring the team and guiding architecture decisions.

Responsabilidades

- Define cross-team technical strategy, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for backend services powering merchant-facing experiences
- Lead design and delivery of scalable backend services providing a consistent foundation for dashboards, mobile apps, and other interfaces
- Build reusable platform capabilities to help product teams develop, operate, and improve their products with confidence




- Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to connect the design system, SDKs, APIs, and backend services
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, technical guidance, and mentorship

Requisitos principales

- 10+ years of experience building complex, reliable, scalable APIs or distributed systems
- Track record of leading the technical design and delivery of large projects across multiple engineering teams
- Experience setting technical direction and translating strategy into an executable roadmap
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs with engineering, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership
