In this Staff Analytics Engineer role at Preply, you will shape analytical foundations across the company, building scalable data models and standards. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineers to enable self-service analytics and efficient experimentation. You’ll own ETL/ELT pipelines and the BI/semantic layer (Looker), driving data quality and governance. You’ll lead as a technical mentor, raising the bar in Analytics Engineering and influencing data strategy for rapid product growth. This role offers impact at general scale in a unicorn ed-tech company leveraging AI-driven personalization.
Responsabilidades
- Lead the design and evolution of core analytical data models across key business domains
- Define and champion analytics engineering standards (modeling patterns, naming conventions, testing strategies, documentation)
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for multi-terabyte data volumes
- Own and evolve BI and semantic layer (Looker/LookML) for self-service analytics
- Partner with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineers to streamline analytics workflows and reduce duplicated logic
- Drive data quality, reliability,
and governance; ensure trustworthy datasets
- Influence company-wide data strategy to support experimentation and growth
- Collaborate with Engineering to provide data products for Experimentation, Engineering and Applied AI teams
- Act as technical leader and mentor within Analytics Engineering
Requisitos principales
- Extensive experience in analytics engineering or related roles
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL; Python in data workflows
- Proven track record designing scalable analytical data models for experimentation and decision-making
- Advanced hands-on experience with dbt, Looker, Airflow (or similar tools)
- Deep understanding of data modeling, analytics architecture, and self-service BI platforms
- Strong business acumen; ability to translate ambiguous problems into data-backed solutions
- Exceptional communication; ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams
- Proactive, strategic mindset focused on long-term system improvements
- Fluency in English (C1+)
