Overview

As a Senior II Backend Engineer at Preply, you will shape the technical direction and drive cross-functional projects that power our general learning platform. You’ll build scalable backend services using Python/Django, integrate with third-party platforms, and mentor engineers across squads to improve performance and reliability. You’ll work closely with product, design, data teams, and security to make data-informed decisions that enhance learner-t Tutor connections. This role offers impact at scale in a human-led, tech-enabled EdTech environment that values experimentation and observability.

Responsabilidades

- Own and drive technical vision across squads
- Develop backend features with Python/Django and integrate with third-party vendors
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving design, data, product, security, and engineering teams




- Design scalable backend systems and data pipelines, including third-party integrations
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers
- Improve performance, monitoring, and reliability for long-term scalability
- Collaborate with PMs, EMs, designers, and analysts to make data-informed decisions
- Champion best practices: test automation, documentation, observability, and quality-first culture

Requisitos principales

- Exposure to architectural patterns of large-scale web applications
- Proven experience leading complex or greenfield projects end-to-end
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills (English B2+)
- Willingness to be on-call for your squad (1 week every 5 weeks)
