The Applied Artificial Intelligence Unit at EURECAT is looking for an experienced AI Data Scientist to lead industrial and research projects focused on the development and application of advanced AI and data-driven solutions. Our team works at the intersection between research and industrial implementation, collaborating both with private companies and within competitive national and European R&D; programmes. We develop solutions for process monitoring, prediction, optimization, decision support and autonomous operation across a wide range of industrial sectors. You will join a multidisciplinary research team where you will have the opportunity to lead projects, interact directly with industrial and research partners, shape technical solutions and contribute to the definition of future R&D; activities. The position combines technical expertise in Artificial Intelligence with project leadership. You should have a strong AI background and hands-on experience that allows you to understand the technologies, define appropriate technical approaches, participate in the research activities and guide the project’s team to a success.
You will work with technologies ranging from advanced Machine Learning and time-series analytics to surrogate modelling, physics-informed AI, Generative AI, LLMs and Agentic AI, continuously exploring emerging technologies and solutions that can generate value in industrial environments. RESPONSABILITIES: As part of the Applied Artificial Intelligence team, your responsibilities will include: Technical project leadership: Lead AI-related industrial and R&D; projects, coordinating technical activities, resources, milestones, risks, deliverables and partners. AI solution definition: Understand industrial challenges and translate them into data-driven and AI solutions, defining suitable methodologies, architectures and validation strategies. Technical guidance: Support and guide Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers throughout the development of AI solutions, reviewing technical decisions and ensuring the scientific and technical quality of the work. Client and partner interaction: Act as a technical reference for industrial clients and project partners, communicating complex AI concepts clearly and connecting technological possibilities with real business and operational needs. Cutting-edge technology scouting: Stay up to date with emerging AI technologies and assess their applicability to industrial challenges, including advanced Machine Learning, Deep Learning, time-series modelling, GNNs, PINNs, Generative AI, LLMs and Agentic AI. R&D; proposal development: Contribute to the preparation of competitive national and European research proposals, helping to define innovative concepts, technical methodologies, work plans and project objectives. Research and innovation: Identify new research opportunities and contribute to scientific publications, technological assets and the transfer of research results into industrial applications. Project portfolio development: Collaborate with the team in identifying new opportunities with industrial companies and research partners and in shaping new AI-driven projects. Team development:

RequirementsAcademic Background Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Chemistry, or similar. Desirable studies or specialization (Master’s, Postgraduate, or PhD) in Data Science, AI, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or similar. Required Skills and Experience At least 2 years of experience in AI/ML, including hands-on experience developing data-driven solutions. Solid knowledge of current and emerging AI technologies, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, time-series modelling, Generative AI, LLMs and Agentic AI. Experience leading technical projects or work packages, coordinating activities, milestones and deliverables. Experience in industrial sector will be a plus. Strong communication skills and experience interacting with clients, partners and multidisciplinary teams. Critical thinking, autonomy, curiosity and willingness to learn new industrial domains. Professional English and availability to travel when required. Highly valued: experience in industrial AI applications and/or competitive European or national R&D; projects.
