Conversational AI Content Designer – Freelance Contract

Working model: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite in Brussels

I'm currently looking for a Conversational AI Content Designer to join a major long-term digital and AI programme in Brussels.

This role sits at the intersection of content design, conversational UX and Generative AI. You'll help design how users interact with chatbot and AI-powered services, creating clear, intuitive conversations while working closely with UX/UI Designers, AI/LLM specialists, developers and product stakeholders.

This is not a traditional marketing/content-writing position. We're looking for someone with experience designing content and conversations for digital products, chatbots, virtual assistants or AI-enabled services.

What you'll be doing

- Design chatbot conversations, dialogue flows and conversational journeys
- Define and maintain tone of voice, response patterns and conversational content
- Translate complex business and user requirements into simple, intuitive conversations
- Develop and maintain conversation flows, intents, datasets and content structures
- Work with AI/LLM teams on prompts, generated responses and conversational behaviour
- Analyse user feedback and conversation data to continuously improve experiences
- Conduct or contribute to user research, usability testing and A/B testing
- Apply conversational UX, accessibility and information architecture principles
- Work within established design systems and Agile delivery teams
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI, Product, Engineering and AI specialists




- Produce clear documentation for conversation designs, content decisions and handover
- Consider GDPR, AI ethics, security and accessibility when designing AI interactions

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have commercial experience across several of the following:

- Conversational Design / Conversation Design
- Chatbots, virtual assistants or Conversational AI
- UX writing / Content Design
- Dialogue and conversation-flow design
- Tone of voice and microcopy
- User journeys and information architecture
- Generative AI / LLM-powered products
- Prompt design / prompt engineering
- Training or evaluation datasets
- User research and usability testing
- Accessibility / inclusive design
- Agile / Scrum / Design Thinking
- Figma and collaborative design tools
- Git/version control exposure would be advantageous
- Tools such as Rasa, Botpress or Voiceflow would be beneficial

Experience delivering conversational products into enterprise or production environments would be particularly valuable.

Language requirement

This is important:

French OR Dutch – very good/fluent level

English – very good/fluent level

Candidates who don't meet the language requirement unfortunately cannot be considered.

Seniority

I'm interested in candidates across:

Junior: 1+ years relevant experience

Medior: 3+ years relevant experience

Senior: 5+ years relevant experience

The key is having genuine hands-on conversational/content design experience, rather than job title alone.
