About Rarefied

Rarefied is a young, independent magazine with a curiosity for art, design, travel and contemporary culture.

We publish stories about people, places and objects that make us want to look a little closer. An artist working with an unexpected material, a hotel with its own peculiar charm, a conversation that changes how we see a familiar subject. Our selection is personal, and finding what to share is as much a part of our work as telling the story.

About the role

Perhaps you’re the person your friends ask for recommendations. Your saved folders are full of exhibitions, interiors and places you’ll find a reason to visit. You come across a designer you’ve never heard of and end up reading their entire website.

If that sounds familiar, we’d like to meet you.

We’re looking for a curious intern with a strong visual eye and fluent English to join Rarefied in Barcelona through a curricular university internship .

You’ll work closely with our founders, learning the everyday workings of an independent magazine and contributing to upcoming projects, including our first print edition.

Your work will combine editorial research, digital content and analytical thinking. You’ll help find people and stories to feature, develop our social presence and connect with a community interested in the things we publish.

- Fluent written and spoken English. We work in English and Italian.
- Creativity and confidence with digital tools.
- An analytical approach: you’re interested in how content performs and what we can learn from it.

- Organisation, initiative and a willingness to put your ideas forward.

Why you’ll enjoy it We’re a small team, so you’ll be involved in the work as it happens, from an initial discovery to the decisions that shape a published story.

You’ll have space to contribute, ask questions and take on responsibility with guidance from the founders. Along the way, you’ll get to know the artists, designers and other creative people we feature, while gaining practical experience in editorial work and digital publishing.

All from Barcelona, a city with plenty to add to your saved folders.

Where and how we work

We meet two days a week at Soho House Barcelona and work remotely for the other three days . If you prefer more time together, we can arrange additional in-person days week by week.

Interested?

This position is intended for students completing a curricular internship through their university . If you’re eligible for an Erasmus+ traineeship , we’d be happy to explore the arrangements with your university.
