Opportunity The Global Category Manager for IT Software & Hardware (Sant Cugat, Spain or Indianapolis, U.S.) will spearhead the long‑term category roadmap and command our high‑value IT supplier landscape that drives the functioning of our Diagnostics Instruments. Primary Responsibilities * Develop strategies and lead strategic initiatives for the rapidly evolving spend category. * Manage tier‑one global technology providers and negotiate complex commercial frameworks. * Translate category goals into bottom‑line value creation. * Engage with cross‑functional teams (Category, Delivery, Procurement Center of Excellence, global business partners) and act as a key business partner for senior stakeholders. * Deliver commercial impact by anchoring cost and building a resilience pipeline of projects while securing sustainability priorities. * Formulate a global Category Strategy and initiative pipeline by collating market intelligence, supplier data, and business requirements. * Lead high‑value commercial and contractual negotiations for strategic suppliers. * Manage key global suppliers, establish development and innovation programs, monitor value targets, and manage supplier risks. * Develop and maintain category guidance documents to translate strategy into executable content for procurement colleagues and business users. * Build deep relationships with senior stakeholders, challenge demand/specifications to maximize value, and manage risk/CSR reviews. * Coach procurement colleagues, provide professional development, manage an Associate Category Manager,
and track budget spend. Qualifications * University degree required (Business or Life Sciences focus preferred); a post‑graduate business‑related qualification preferred. * 5+ years of in‑depth strategic and operational procurement experience with extensive knowledge of category management and advanced strategic sourcing. * 5+ years of overall business experience in a regulated industry such as Diagnostics, with familiarity of relevant legal and quality risks. * Deep subject‑matter knowledge of specialized instrument control environments and technical software/hardware dependencies, including IT Hardware (e.g., servers, PCs, IPCs, CPUs, firewalls, tier2 electronics) and IT Software (operating systems, databases) and IP licensing. * Expert proficiency in navigating enterprise systems, P2P tools, and procurement systems for sourcing events and contract negotiations (e.g., eSourcing, eAuction). * Advanced knowledge of AI application and a strong affinity to explore AI‑driven solutions in digital transformation (Digital2.0 / Industry4.0). * Proven financial and business acumen with grounding in total cost of ownership (TCO) and cost modeling. * Strong communication, project management, and change‑management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead integral cross‑functional teams in a fluid environment. * Business‑level fluency in English required. * Travel flexibility: willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
