We are looking for an experienced SAP Data Migration Engineer to join our Data Foundation team and play a key role in delivering complex, enterprise-scale SAP data migration and data engineering initiatives.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on SAP data migration, SAP HANA, data integration, transformation and modern cloud data engineering. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust migration solutions, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, quality and performance throughout the migration lifecycle.

SAP HANA experience is mandatory for this position.

You will work closely with data engineers, data modelers, data stewards, BI developers, data scientists and business subject matter experts to deliver scalable, reliable and high-quality data solutions.

What You’ll Do

- Lead and execute SAP data migration initiatives, including migrations involving SAP ECC and SAP HANA.
- Design, develop and optimise data migration solutions using SAP HANA.
- Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, validation and storage.
- Analyse source and target data structures and define appropriate migration, mapping and transformation strategies.
- Ensure migrated data meets required standards for accuracy, completeness, consistency, quality and performance.
- Develop modular, efficient and maintainable code for data transformation and integration.
- Build ETL/data ingestion processes from SAP and other enterprise source systems.
- Identify and resolve data quality, transformation and migration issues throughout the migration lifecycle.




- Implement automated data-quality testing and validation processes to ensure data integrity.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data pipelines and migration processes.
- Provide technical recommendations, assess feasibility and contribute to project planning and workload estimation.
- Work closely with technical teams, data experts and business stakeholders to understand migration requirements and deliver project milestones.
- Contribute to technical standards, best practices, documentation and knowledge sharing across the data engineering community.
- Design, build and optimise automated deployment and CI/CD pipelines across development, test and production environments.
- Support continuous improvement of SAP migration methodologies, data engineering processes and automation.

What You’ll Bring

- Strong hands-on experience with SAP HANA – this is essential.
- Proven experience delivering SAP data migration projects, ideally involving SAP ECC and SAP HANA.
- Strong understanding of SAP data structures, data extraction, transformation, mapping and migration processes.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise data migration programmes.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining data pipelines.
- Strong experience with Python and/or other data engineering languages.
- Experience with data transformation, ETL/ELT and data-quality processes.




- Experience troubleshooting and optimising data migration and data pipeline performance.

- 3+ years of relevant data engineering and/or data migration experience.
- Experience designing, building and deploying CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with cloud-based data engineering platforms.
- Strong understanding of automated testing and data-quality frameworks.
- Experience monitoring, troubleshooting and optimising data pipelines.
- Experience working within Agile or other collaborative delivery environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with technical and business stakeholders.
- A technically curious, analytical and growth-oriented mindset, with a continuous focus on improving data engineering and migration practices.
