We work closely with external advisors to validate tax criteria, ensure accurate reporting and drive to optimize processes that streamline the finance function. We also define tax parameters for new business activities, solve compliance issues across markets, and continuously improve tools and processes to support the wider organization. We are seeking a Tax Technology Specialist with a strong background in ERP platforms and indirect tax integration. This role focuses on the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of tax solutions within enterprise resource planning systems,
ensuring that transactional tax data flows accurately across the organization's financial ecosystem. Lead the configuration and ongoing maintenance of tax modules within ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Business Central), ensuring correct tax determination for all transaction types.
Serve as the primary liaison between the tax team and IT/ERP teams, translating business tax requirements into system-level configurations and functional specifications. Manage integrations between ERP platforms and third‐party tax engines (Vertex, Avalara, or Thomson Reuters), including API connections, data mapping, and testing. Support ERP upgrade and migration projects by conducting tax impact assessments, regression testing, and post‐go‐live monitoring.
Analyze transactional data to identify tax determination errors, exemption misapplications, and reporting gaps; implement corrective configurations. Collaborate with finance, IT, and compliance teams to ensure ERP configurations align with evolving indirect tax regulations. Maintain technical documentation including system configuration guides, data flow diagrams, and change logs.
Provide internal training and support on ERP tax module functionality to finance and operations stakeholders. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science,
or a related field. ~2-3 years of experience in tax technology with a strong focus on ERP systems and indirect tax integration. ~ Hands‐on experience with SAP (FI/SD/MM tax configuration), Oracle EBS/Cloud, or NetSuite tax modules. ~ Experience integrating ERP systems with Vertex O Series, Avalara AvaTax, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE. ~ S. sales and use tax, including nexus rules, exemption certificate management, and reporting obligations. ~ Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, analysis, and reconciliation;
experience with ETL or data pipeline tools is a plus. ~ Ability to read and interpret system logs, API responses, and configuration settings to troubleshoot tax determination issues. ~ Strong project management skills;
experience with Agile or SDLC methodologies preferred.
