About the school

St George's British School Madrid is a well established school located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a collection of over 100 schools across 21 countries with a united focus on growing internationally minded students through strategic outstanding practice. St George's Madrid operates on a large campus with many new and developing facilities and has seen significant growth in recent years.

The role

The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner teaching Science across the secondary phase up to the end of Key Stage 5 (Year 13). A specialism in Biology or Physics is preferred. The school follows the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, IGCSE at Key Stage 4 and the IB Diploma programme in the Sixth Form. Experience teaching across this range is an advantage. The school offers individual sciences and double award at IGCSE and all sciences at HL/SL in the IB Diploma. Training will be provided for teachers developing IB Diploma teaching where subject knowledge is appropriate. A possible middle leadership responsibility may be available for a suitably experienced candidate.

- Support the whole-child development of students from a range of backgrounds

Requirements

- Experience teaching Science across the secondary phase up to Key Stage 5
- Strong subject knowledge suitable for IB Diploma level
- Evidence of being a strong team player with a adaptable approach to problem solving
- Commitment to child-centred education and helping every child reach their potential
- Interest in raising attainment across all ability levels
- Ability to adapt quickly to new situations

The closing date for applications is Monday 24th August. The school is looking to recruit for a September 2026 start if the right candidate is available.
