Software Engineer – Contract Assignment

- Duration: up to 660 working days (approx. 3 years)
- Contract terms: terminable every 3 months by either party, with 1 month's notice
- Working regime: Full-time, Monday–Friday, standard working hours (7h36/day)
- Telework: up to 50% allowed

Assignment Overview

We are sourcing an experienced Software Engineer for a long-term consultancy assignment with a well-established financial institution based in Brussels. The consultant will join a development team responsible for the design, development and evolution of a strategic internal platform supporting the organisation's core supervisory activities.

Working within a multidisciplinary Agile team, the consultant will contribute to secure, scalable and maintainable software solutions, in line with the client's architectural standards and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

- Develop and design application components, in close collaboration with team members
- Analyse technical problems and propose effective solutions
- If required, act as technical lead on a development project, including technical release management
- Collaborate closely with business analysts, UX designers, IT architects and operations teams
- Coach team members on development frameworks, tools, and best practices
- Contribute to well-structured, documented and tested software components




- Produce REST API specifications, architecture/technical design documents, and data models
- Support CI/CD configuration, code reviews, and technical recommendations
- Provide operational, support, maintenance and knowledge-transfer documentation as needed

Required Technical Skills

Excellent knowledge of:

- Angular & TypeScript
- ASP.NET Core & C#
- Code review practices
- Development tools and DevOps practices
- Cloud solution architecture
- Data design (conceptual/logical data models, ERD, etc.)
- Design of non-functional requirements (security, performance, query optimisation)
- Design of RESTful endpoints (HTTP methods, URLs, versioning, JSON, metadata, documentation)
- Scrum/Kanban and team-oriented ways of working
- Quality coding standards

Good knowledge of:

- Azure
- MS SQL Server
- Modelling, diagramming and documentation practices

Profile Requirements

- Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
- Deep, hands-on experience across the technical areas listed above
- Ability to quickly adopt and coach others in new technologies as needed
- Strong communication skills
- High degree of autonomy, technical expertise, reliability, and commitment to software quality

Language Requirements

- French or Dutch: Proficient level in one of the two, Independent level in the other
- English: Proficient level
