We're looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our R&D; team in Granada, Spain. We're the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) solutions that improve the reliability, performance and safety of critical applications and high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. We provide virtually fail-safe GNSS and PNT solutions for military and commercial applications worldwide.
We have developed industry-leading solutions built around ultra-accurate synchronization (sub-ns) and frequency distribution services, delivering products and technical solutions based on the enhanced White Rabbit PTP synchronization technology for applications ranging from timing distribution in financial networks to robust and reliable positioning. Safran has expertise in Time Sensitive Networking through aerospace engagements with ESA to provide deterministic communications with zero-packet loss. We are a dynamic company focused on research and innovation for reliable timing at the core.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will start working on a highly motivating engagement with the R&D; Engineering Team in Granada, Spain, where you will be expected to develop the main elements of a synchronization system that extends White Rabbit timing over a wireless interface. You will assist in the design, integration, and validation of the main software and embedded firmware elements of a prototype for wireless White Rabbit timing. This could include designing custom Linux kernel modules and drivers, specialized Linux images, user-level applications, software libraries, or test automation procedures.
Assembly of experimental demonstrators and travel to showcase proofs of concept might be required in the final stages of the project.
Develop software elements of our current embedded Timing products and next-generation Safran products, including custom kernel modules and extensions to our synchronization protocols. Validate the software components you implement, ensure operation in embedded Linux, and debug complex issues arising from integration of multiple SW and FPGA elements on an embedded system.
Collaborate with Testing and Quality teams to ensure developments are produced according to specification. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to ensure high-quality results within the project schedule, effort, and budget. Carry out development tasks according to the project plan.
Ensure deliverables meet quality through systematic unit testing. Master's Degree in Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Good written and communication skills in English.
Experience in general software development, embedded Linux, software engineering, and Linux kernel driver development and debugging. ability to participate in ambitious projects with major international technology leaders.
