Experteer Overview

In this role you will join a team of technical professionals supporting a large-scale z/OS systems platform. You will manage the z/OS mainframe network environment and ensure secure host communications across subsystems and products. You work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain connectivity, performance, and security, including 24x7 on-call coverage.

- Support IBM mainframe networks and transmission products and infrastructure as part of a multi-functional team
- Provide 24x7 on-call coverage as part of a support rota
- Perform TCPIP Port Reserve changes (Add/Delete/Change)
- Perform VTAM updates (Add/Delete/Change)
- Manage OSA Adapters in a complex mainframe environment
- Manage VTAM PU/LU updates including Enterprise Extenders
- Implement AT-TLS rules and manage digital certificates
- Configure and manage IPSEC policies (permit/deny, VPN tunnels)
- Trace, debug and perform error analysis
- Communicate with technical, applications and operations staff to ensure network connectivity and security
- Adapt to after-hours and weekend work as needed

Responsabilidades

- Experience administering file transmission products such as Connect: Direct and FTP, or strong user experience with these products




- Knowledge of z/OS and z/OS utilities
- Understanding of z/OS networking services, structure and related software and protocols
- Understanding of network security disciplines (IPSec, TLS/SSL, certificates) and their relation to file transmission
- Experience with problem management from initial diagnosis to resolution
- Understanding of Change Management processes
- Ability to customize and manage secure SNA and TCP/IP networks under z/OS
- Knowledge of mainframe network management tools (e.g. Net Master) and multi-session manager products (TUBES, Supersession)
- Experience with mainframe printing products
- General z/OS systems programming experience
- Knowledge of System z hardware including OSA-Express network cards
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with Cisco Network Solutions
- Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Good organisational skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
- Business awareness and understanding of IT requirements
- Willingness to keep up to date with new technology
- Understanding of information legislation (Data Protection Act)
- Experience as a z/OS Systems Specialist in IT environments
