PhD Position in Resource Analysis for Security

Applications are invited for a PhD student position at theIMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain.

The specific topic of the research will be determined based on thecommon interests of the candidate and the supervisor(s), within thearea of techniques for static or combined static/dynamic analysisand verification of non-functional properties of programs such asexecution time, memory, energy consumption, etc. This includeswork on the auxiliary analyses required in this objective, as well asthe application of these techniques to security and privacy, includingresource-based side channel attacks. Other applications areas such asgranularity control, green computing, optimization, etc. will also beof interest.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have earned (or be in their last year of) aBachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,or Mathematics, with interest and some expertise in at least oneof the following areas:
- Program analysis, compilers
- Formal methods and logic
- Abstract interpretation
- Testing




- Security and privacy
- Constraint logic programming

Solid programming skills will be highly valued. The position requiresgood teamwork and communication skills, including excellent spoken andwritten English.
