Experteer Overview In this role you will manage and optimize enterprise mainframe storage for IBM z/OS, ensuring high availability and performance. You will collaborate with infrastructure, operations, and application teams to modernize storage and support critical systems. You’ll drive capacity planning, DR exercises, and automation to reduce toil and improve resilience. - Manage all aspects of mainframe disk and storage administration, including provisioning, restoration, and ongoing support
- Perform daily operational activities: health checks, incident management, monitoring, and issue resolution
- Plan and implement storage capacity expansions and infrastructure changes
- Configure and maintain storage resources for databases, VSAM files, work datasets, and sort spaces
- Administer storage management products (e.G., CA Disk) and related utilities
- Install, test, and maintain storage hardware and software solutions
- Handle z/OS hardware planning: IODF maintenance, LPAR configuration, HMC administration
- Administer backup, recovery, archival, and DR solutions
- Use SMP/E and z/OSMF for software maintenance and deployment
- Manage storage volume allocation, capacity planning, and utilization reporting
- Support DR testing and recovery exercises
- Perform root cause analysis for storage incidents and implement preventive actions




- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Leverage automation tools (NetView, System Automation, CA OPS/MVS) to improve efficiency
- Automate repetitive storage tasks
- Design and support IBM zSeries storage architectures
- Ensure compliance with security, governance, and standards
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and runbooks
- Demonstrate ownership and technical leadership in mission-critical storage servicesResponsabilidades
- 8–15+ years of experience in Mainframe Infrastructure and z/OS Storage Administration
- Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS storage in large enterprises
- Experience with IBM DS8000 series storage and virtual tape systems
- Proven capability in storage capacity management, backup/recovery, replication, and enterprise storage operations
- Experience in regulated environments (Banking/Financial Services/Insurance) preferred
- Expertise in IBM DS8000 (DS8870, DS8K family) and related tooling (DSCLI, GDPS, PPRC Metro Mirror, DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, SMS, RMM Customization)
- z/OS IODF administration, storage hardware/software upgrades
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, DR, and disaster recovery planning
- Experience with TS7720 Virtual Tape Systems and EMC DLm VTL systems
- FICON storage networking; Broadcom/Brocade networking familiarity
- Proficiency with z/OS, JCL, Job Scheduling, SMP/E, and z/OSMF
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
