MiraltabankMiraltabank began in 2010 as a specialist house in institutional fixed income and currency markets, and grew from there into an independent Spanish bank. That origin still shapes the firm: we combine an institutional trading culture with investment banking, asset management, structured and SME financing and an online brokerage, serving both private and institutional clients.

The teamThe Quantitative Analysis Team is a small team that serves the entire bank. It covers the full path from raw data to a product in use: data engineering and corporate databases, business intelligence, quantitative and machine-learning modelling, and applied artificial intelligence.

The work reaches production, and it also reaches research. The team publishes in peer-reviewed journals and presents at international conferences in quantitative finance and artificial intelligence. Junior profiles are trained here from the ground up.

The internshipData and analytics. Supporting the development of database, business intelligence and advanced analytics projects across the firm: Credit, Risk Management, Treasury, Brokerage, Asset Management, Finance and Operations.

Applied AI. Building in-house language-model and agent solutions, primarily for corporate credit analysis and credit risk, and also for other departments such as Risk Management, Legal, Institutional Sales, the online broker and the fund manager.

What we are looking forAcademic background

- Undergraduates in Computer Science, Mathematics or Data Science & Analytics,



or Physics and Engineering graduates taking a relevant master's degree.
- An internship agreement with your university or business school.

Technical

- Python for data work: manipulation, cleaning and transformation. Familiarity with pandas or equivalent libraries.
- Relational databases and SQL, ideally MySQL: joins, aggregations and the ability to reason over a data model.
- Working knowledge of LLMs and agents, whether theoretical or from your own projects: prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, and how to judge whether an output is actually correct.
- Foundations in statistics and machine learning.
- Comfortable reading code you did not write, and technical documentation in English.

How you work

- Strong abstraction and problem-solving skills. Much of this job is turning a vague business question into something computable.
- Analytical rigour and attention to detail. A good part of the work is noticing that a figure does not add up and finding out why.
- Order, and the discipline to document what you build.
- Able to explain your work to technical and to business audiences.
- Initiative to ask, investigate and propose.
- Discretion. You will be handling confidential information.
- Genuine interest in finance, and in banking in particular.

Valued

- Exposure to machine learning, data analysis, risk management or artificial intelligence.
- Contact with finance through coursework, a final-year project or a previous internship.
- Git and version control.
- Power BI or another visualisation tool.
- Interest in credit risk and financial modelling.
