Looking for potential PhD candidates — Parkinson’s disease, motor behavior & AI
We are looking for motivated candidates interested in applying for national or international PhD funding to develop a thesis project at the Cajal Neuroscience Center, CSIC , in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid.
The project will combine preclinical mouse experiments and computational behavioral analysis to study how dopaminergic therapies shape motor behavior in Parkinson’s disease and L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia.
The work would include
? Mouse models of Parkinson’s disease , including 6-OHDA lesions
?️ Building a behavioral setup from scratch: cameras, synchronization, acquisition pipelines and IMU detection
? Behavioral phenotyping: behavioral recordings with video tracking and inertial sensors/IMUs
? Computational analysis : Python/Matlab, machine learning and motor-state decoding
? Translational goals : development of interpretable motor biomarkers with translational potential
This is not a funded position yet . We are looking for strong candidates to apply together for competitive PhD fellowships and national/international funding calls.
We are especially interested in candidates who are genuinely motivated by both sides of the project: hands-on experimental work with animals and computational analysis .
Backgrounds in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, bioengineering, biology, veterinary sciences, physiotherapy, data science or related areas are welcome.
