Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Platform Engineer to join a strategic transformation programme within a global heavy manufacturing organisation. The successful consultant will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing cloud-based data platforms that support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and AI-driven initiatives.

The adecuado candidate will have deep expertise across the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem, particularly Azure Databricks , alongside strong SQL and Python development capabilities. Exposure to Azure AI Foundry or similar Azure AI services will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms within Microsoft Azure
- Build and optimise data pipelines supporting analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
- Develop and support ETL/ELT processes using Azure-native technologies
- Implement robust data engineering solutions using Azure Databricks and Spark/PySpark
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
- Ensure high standards of data quality, performance, security, and reliability
- Support AI and machine learning initiatives through modern Azure services
- Contribute to data architecture, governance, and platform best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a distributed international environment

Required Experience
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks
- Advanced SQL and Python development skills
- Experience with Spark/PySpark and large-scale data processing
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing,



and data integration concepts
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and other Microsoft Azure data services
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
- Experience within heavy manufacturing, industrial, engineering, energy, chemicals, mining, automotive, or large-scale production environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Professional proficiency in English

Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry
- Experience with Azure OpenAI
- Exposure to machine learning or AI-enabled data platforms
- Experience supporting modern data and AI transformation programmes
