Offer Description

Development and documentation of design methodologies for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and GaN transistors, including Design Kits and Process Design Kits (PDKs).

Design, simulation and optimisation of integrated photonic components and circuits using CAD/layout tools, EDA tools and photonic simulation/mode-solving software.

Contribution to the creation, validation and update of compact models and component libraries for integration into Design Kits/PDKs.

Technical support for layout, tape-out, design-rule, technical documentation and coordination activities with project GIGANTE partners and foundries.

Technical follow-up of tasks, preparation of reporting inputs, identification of technical risks and support for aligning UVIGO activities with the project work plan.

Specific Requirements

Item 01: Academic transcript for the required degrees. Academic qualifications and other training courses. Professional proficiency in Spanish and English (punctuation: 30)

Item 02: Deseño PIC: experiencia no deseño de circuítos fotónicos integrados (punctuation: 25)

Item 03: Tools and models: proficiency in CAD/layout and EDA tools; photonics simulation and model solving (e.g., Lumerical, COMSOL/FDTD/EME/BPM, VPI, OptiSystem, KLayout, Nazca,



or GDSFactory); programming in Python/Matlab/C and microcontrollers; creation of compact models, component libraries, and documentation for Design Kits/PDKs. Proficiency with software such as ADS, PSpice, and OrCAD (punctuation: 20)

Item 04: Other merits related to the tasks to be performed: experience in optical characterization, test bench assembly, data analysis, manufacturing/cleanroom, technical communication, independence, proactivity, and the ability to collaborate with international teams (punctuation: 10)

Item 05: Personal interview: assessment of technical fit for the role, ability to explain relevant PIC design/simulation experience, problem-solving approach, work organisation and motivation to contribute to PIXEurope. The interview will only be conducted with the 3 candidates who, in the sum of merits, reach a minimum of 50 points (punctuation: 15)
