Freelance Project: Senior Testing Coordinator

Duration: 6 months (until 28 February 2027)

Work Schedule: Full-time, single assignment

Location: Antwerp Region, Belgium (3 days per week on-site)

Role Overview

A leading organization operating within the industrial IoT and connected technology sector is seeking a Senior Testing Coordinator to support a major integration program involving next-generation platform services, mobile applications, web portals, and CIAM capabilities.

The assignment is focused on establishing a sustainable testing organization across multiple parallel delivery streams. The consultant will take ownership of cross-team testing coordination, implement a scalable test data management capability, improve testing processes, and raise overall testing maturity. This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic vision with practical execution.

Core Responsibilities

✅ Testing Strategy & Coordination

• Build a collaborative quality culture across multiple teams

• Define the testing strategy, including manual, automated, pipeline, and scheduled testing approaches

• Manage integrated test planning and provide a consolidated view of test readiness across all delivery streams

• Develop and maintain a risk-based end-to-end test scenario catalogue

• Define test entry and exit criteria, testing definitions of ready and done, and cross-team defect triage processes

• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and key stakeholders

✅ Test Data Management

• Design and implement a governed, reusable, self-service test data capability

• Establish dataset catalogues, ownership, version control, and documentation standards

• Support complex testing scenarios involving device types, configurations, licenses, user roles,



and organizational structures

• Develop a repeatable CIAM role and permission testing matrix

• Translate test data requirements into backlog items and coordinate delivery with Product Owners

✅ Environments, Devices & Test Coverage

• Define testing approaches for connected devices, gateways, controllers, sensors, and related hardware

• Establish provisioning, commissioning, firmware, and configuration validation processes

• Design and implement a device lab and hardware-in-the-loop testing strategy

• Determine appropriate usage of physical devices, simulators, and virtualized environments

• Reduce reliance on production data and production environments for testing purposes

• Create operational runbooks that allow non-specialists to execute complex validation scenarios

✅ Migration & Compatibility Validation

• Define backward compatibility testing approaches for domain transitions

• Validate data consistency and integrity across legacy and target systems during migrations

• Implement dual-source validation patterns for coexistence and migration scenarios

• Communicate migration timelines, dependencies, risks, and readiness to stakeholders

✅ Maturity Improvement & Knowledge Transfer

• Coach test engineers and technical teams to improve testing practices and maturity

• Support the adoption of relevant generative AI tools within testing activities

• Define KPIs, establish a baseline,



and provide monthly reporting on progress

• Deliver a complete handover package including a documented 30/60/90-day continuation plan

Profile & Required Experience

Professional Background

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing

• Minimum 4 years of experience coordinating testing across multiple parallel teams within complex programs

• Proven experience designing and implementing test data management solutions, including synthetic data and governed datasets

• Strong hands-on approach with experience building test data generators, harnesses, and automated end-to-end scenarios

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments with multiple stakeholder groups

• Ability to influence Product Owners and Technical Leads without direct managerial authority

• Experience supporting teams with varying levels of testing maturity

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop and device laboratory testing strategies is an advantage

• Exposure to compliance and audit frameworks such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2 is an advantage
