Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. Through

the excellence of our research, we identify

problems of society and we contribute to

spread them around the world.

In April 2015, the Vall d’Hebron

Research Institute (VHIR) obtained

Commission HR Excellence.

This recognition proves that VHIR

Kidney Physiopathology Group





The Pediatric Nephrology Department is part of the University Hospital Vall d’Hebron (VHUH) located in Barcelona, a
Tertiary referral public center for Catalunya and many other areas of Spain. The HUVH is integrated by a Women
- Children, General, and Trauma-Orthopedics Teaching Hospitals providing a multidisciplinary care involving all pediatric
and adult medical and surgical sub-specialties. We also work closely with the Pediatric Urology Service who is accredited
as national reference service for complex urologic surgeries in children and adolescents.

Further, we are part of the Kidney Physiopathology Group at the Vall d'Hebrón Research Institute (VHIR) (here more
details). Our research is focused in the field of Inherited Tubulopathies (Dent disease, Familial hypomagnesemia with
hypercalciuria nephrocalcinosis), and rare kidney diseases. We are also founder members of RenalTube
