Performs duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Performs basic shift leader functions.

Determines staffing workload needs using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) staffing reports. Prepares and distributes staff assignments using EMR reports.



Assess and re-deploy staffing levels throughout the shift. Ensure appropriate staffing levels for oncoming shift using EMR reports.

Ensures standardized hand off for patient care services to the oncoming and off going shift RCP coordinator. Escalates safety and outcome issues as appropriate.

Ensures all safety events are entered into the Safety Event Reporting System. Research evidence based clinical and operational practices, reports and corrects patient safety issues. Uses the chain of command as appropriate. Assures feedback communication and action planning for the Event Reporting System

Assists with orientation and technical competency for Respiratory Care Services staff, new hires, medical staff, nursing and Respiratory Care student.

Performs other duties as assigned.
