We are seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead the modernisation of our legacy applications and drive our cloud-based transformation. In this role, you will design and implement a scalable microservices platform, mentor high-performing engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of large-scale, high-performance applications in a regulated environment. Your expertise in Java, cloud technologies, DevOps, and microservices architecture will be critical in shaping our technical roadmap and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments and has a proven track record of delivering transformational change.

What will you be doing?

Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define and execute the technical vision for modernising legacy systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- ·Lead the design and implementation of a cloud-native microservices platform , optimising for scalability, performance, and resilience.




- Drive the cloud transformation strategy, including migration, optimisation, and cost management.
- Champion DevOps best practices , including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and observability, to accelerate delivery and improve reliability.

Team Building & Mentorship
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing engineering teams , fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and retain top talent, providing technical guidance and career growth opportunities.
- Bridge the gap between engineering, product, and business stakeholders , ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities.

Architecture & Development
- Hands-on experience in Java and modern frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) for large-scale, high-performance applications.
