SCADA Engineer, Senior Analyst
Reports to: SCADA Lead / Engineering
Location: Madrid, Spain

ABOUT THE ROLE The SCADA Engineer will support the operation, modernization, and continued development of SCADA/DAS and telecommunications systems across the Company's renewable energy portfolio.
The initial focus of the role will be supporting a multi-year program to retrofit and standardize legacy DAS/SCADA systems across the operating fleet. The engineer will coordinate internal teams, field personnel, vendors, and Asset Management/O&M; while providing hands-on technical support, maintaining system documentation and credentials, and supporting applicable cybersecurity and NERC compliance activities.
The role will also support SCADA engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for new PV, BESS, and other energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA Fleet Support & Retrofit Coordination
- Coordinate execution of SCADA/DAS retrofit and modernization activities across the operating fleet, including internal teams, SCADA vendors, OEMs, telecommunications providers, and field personnel.
- Maintain site-level retrofit plans and track technical readiness, vendor deliverables, field execution, commissioning, punch-list items, and final handover.
- Collect, organize, validate, and maintain SCADA technical information, including network diagrams, electrical drawings, points/tag lists, communication settings, IP information, device configurations, and system documentation.
- Provide remote technical support to field teams during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
- Support training and knowledge transfer to O&M;, Asset Management, and other internal teams for newly installed or upgraded SCADA/DAS systems.
SCADA Engineering & Technical Support
- Support SCADA design and technical reviews for PV, BESS, and other energy projects, including DAS, plant controllers, RTACs, met stations, communications networks, and associated control systems.
- Troubleshoot SCADA, communications, networking, and data-quality issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams, OEMs, and vendors.
- Review and support SCADA points lists, network architecture, communication protocols, system configurations, test procedures, and technical documentation.
- Support SCADA equipment configuration, FAT/SAT, commissioning, testing, and operational handover.
- Support technical review of SCADA vendor and EPC deliverables and assist the SCADA Lead with implementation of Company SCADA standards and specifications.
- Support root-cause investigations for SCADA, controls, communications, and data availability issues.
Process & Documentation
- Maintain accurate SCADA asset, configuration, access, and project documentation.
- Track open SCADA requests, incidents, retrofit activities, vendor actions, and technical deliverables through completion.
- Identify recurring technical issues and opportunities to improve SCADA standards, documentation, workflows, and vendor performance.
- Support development of standardized SCADA processes, technical specifications, templates, and knowledge-management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Automation/Controls Engineering,
or related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of SCADA, controls, automation, telecommunications, or renewable-energy engineering experience.
- Experience with PV and/or BESS SCADA/DAS systems preferred.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, control schematics, network diagrams, and SCADA architecture drawings.
- Working knowledge of Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3, OPC and RS-485 communications.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and basic configuration/troubleshooting of routers, switches, modems, gateways, and other communications equipment.
- Experience with SEL equipment and tools such as SEL RTAC and acSELerator QuickSet/RTAC Linux/windows OS is preferred.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating environments.
- Experience with renewable-energy DAS/SCADA platforms such as Power Factors, AlsoEnergy, Norcal, or similar systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with PV inverter communication and monitoring platforms such as SMA, Power Electronics, Sungrow or similar OEM systems.
- Field experience during PV/BESS commissioning, SCADA installation, or maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with NERC compliance, operational technology cybersecurity, access management, or related controls is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to independently manage routine technical issues and recognize when complex issues require escalation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering and operations team.
