Accounting ManagerNorthernlight Insurance and Surety CompanyFull-Time Contract Position Northernlight Insurance and Surety Company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the company’s accounting operations and help strengthen its accounting processes and controls.This is a hands-on position requiring strong QuickBooks Online (QBO) expertise and the ability to manage the full accounting cycle independently. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and oversight of one team member responsible primarily for invoicing.The successful candidate will also play an important role in evaluating existing accounting practices, refining workflows, and establishing new processes and controls where appropriate.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the full accounting cycle within QuickBooks Online (QBO)Lead the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and review of financial resultsMaintain the general ledger and financial records in accordance with IFRSOversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), invoicing, collections, and payment processesPerform and review bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliationsEnsure transactions are accurately classified, supported, and recorded on a timely basisReview existing accounting processes and implement improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and consistencyDevelop and document accounting procedures, workflows,



and internal controls as neededSupervise and manage one accounting team member responsible primarily for invoicingPrepare and support management reporting and financial analysisCoordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and other professional partners as requiredQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredMinimum 10 years of professional accounting experienceAdvanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO)Strong working knowledge of IFRSDemonstrated experience managing the full accounting cycle and month-end closeExperience developing and improving accounting processes and internal controlsPrior experience supervising or managing accounting staffStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work independently and manage competing priorities and deadlinesExperience in the insurance, reinsurance, or surety industry strongly preferredCPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional designation is a plusPosition DetailsFull-time contracted positionCompensation: based on experience and qualificationsWe are looking for a seasoned accounting professional who is comfortable being hands-on with the day-to-day accounting while also improving the processes behind it.
