Offer Description

The Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC) is seeking a candidate to join its team as a Forestry Management and Close-to-Nature Silviculture Specialist. Located in Solsona (Pre-Pyrenees, Catalonia), CTFC employs approximately 200 staff members, produces more than 140 scientific publications annually, and manages an annual budget of around €12 million. Its research and knowledge transfer activities are structured around four programs: Multifunctional Forest Management, Landscape Dynamics and Planning, Biodiversity Management and Conservation, and Bioeconomy, Health and Governance. TERMS OF THE APPOINTMENT

1. Starting date and duration: From 1 October 2026 to 31 August 2028.

2. Contract type: Scientific and technical activities contract.

3. Working hours: 60% part-time position (22.5 hours per week) with versátil working hours in accordance with the CTFC collective labour agreement.

4. Professional category: KTT and R&D; Specialist N2.

5. Salary: According to the candidate's qualifications and experience, based on CTFC's professional career framework.

6. Measures promoting work-life balance and gender equality are regulated under the CTFC Collective Agreement and Equal Opportunities Plan.





KEY RESPONSABILITIES

1. Technical lead in the design, analysis and preparation of project proposals and technical reports.

2. Coordination of fieldwork activities and implementation of forest inventories, including dendrometric, understory and floristic surveys, as well as field monitoring.

3. Preparation of working maps and the design, organization and management of databases.

4. Design of forest management protocols and interventions integrating biodiversity conservation objectives.

5. Dissemination and transfer of project results through training and outreach activities.

6. Any other duties or tasks assigned according to the nature of the position.

Skills/Qualifications

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

1. Previous experience and knowledge of the forestry sector in Catalonia, particularly in working with public administrations such as provincial councils, county councils, and other municipal or supra-municipal bodies.

2. Knowledge and experience in developing protocols and designing forest management interventions that integrate biodiversity conservation.

3. Experience conducting forest inventories for biodiversity conservation purposes (Potential Biodiversity Index).

4. C1 level of Catalan and Spanish, and B2 level of English.

5. Proven proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)



software, including QGIS and ArcGIS.

4. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Specific Requirements

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Education: Degree in Forest Engineering (Forestry Engineering).

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in tasks related to forest management and close-tonature silviculture.

3. Demonstrated experience participating in national and international projects.

4. Proven experience in the identification, conservation and management of mature forests.

5. Valid Category B driving licence held for more than 2 years.
