About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Exploration Geophysicist to join their dedicated exploration team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role is critical for the interpretation of geophysical data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects within the Oil & Gas industry. You will be responsible for leading complex seismic interpretation projects, integrating data from various sources, and providing geological insights to guide exploration strategies. The idóneo candidate will possess a deep understanding of seismic data processing and interpretation techniques, contributing significantly to the company's resource discovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic (2D/3D) and other geophysical data to identify geological structures and stratigraphic traps.
- Develop and refine regional geological and geophysical models to define exploration plays and assess prospectivity.
- Integrate geophysical data with geological, petrophysical, and engineering data to create comprehensive subsurface interpretations.
- Utilize advanced seismic interpretation software and techniques to delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.




- Collaborate closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to support prospect maturation and drilling decisions.
- Prepare detailed geophysical reports, presentations, and prospect assessments for management and joint venture partners.

Requirements

- Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related Earth Science field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in exploration geophysics within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Expertise in seismic data processing workflows and advanced interpretation techniques.
- Proficiency with industry-standard geophysical software packages (e.g., Petrel, OpendTect, HampsonRussell).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex datasets in challenging geological settings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
