The Primary Teaching Assistant plays a key role in supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for pupils. The role involves working closely with children to promote their academic, social, and emotional development within a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. The Teaching Assistant helps ensure that every child is supported to reach their full potential.
Support the class teacher in the planning, preparation, and delivery of learning activities.
Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning and provide targeted support.
Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
Support pupils with additional learning needs or special educational needs (SEN), adapting tasks where necessary.
Supervise pupils during classroom activities, break times, and school outings when required.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive school environment.
Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.




A good understanding of child development and primary education practices.
Relevant qualifications in education or childcare
A good level of English literacy and numeracy.
