As we continue our mission to bridge the gap between the public and private sectors, we're excited to offer an opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Junior Smart City Advisor – General, based in Barcelona, Spain.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full project acquisition and delivery lifecycle, working closely with city officers and other stakeholders to identify urban challenges, define tailored solutions, support funding opportunities, and contribute to the delivery of innovative urban projects.
You will contribute to projects ranging from smaller urban interventions to major innovation programmes such as Horizon Europe and Interreg, across areas including mobility, logistics, awareness, sustainability, and related urban domains.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and curious Junior Smart City Advisor – Global Intern to join our team in Barcelona.
This role provides an opportunity to support both project acquisition and project delivery, working with city officers, municipalities, public-sector organisations, companies, and other innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
As part of the role, you will help identify entities with demand for BABLE solutions and relevant funding opportunities. You will engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities, contribute to defining tailored urban solutions, and support efforts to unlock budgets and funding for urban interventions.
You will also contribute to active projects through the exploration of successful use cases and literature reviews, stakeholder interviews and surveys, field studies, and data analysis. You will help transform research and project findings into clear presentations and reports for the final client.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in urban development and innovation, excellent communication and analytical skills, and an ability to work independently while contributing effectively to an international team.

What We Expect from You We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who combines strong communication skills with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication Excellence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex reports and communicate information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex challenges in a structured and solution-oriented way.
- Project Management Mindset: Interest in and ability to support project planning, coordination, task management, and stakeholder follow-up.
- CRM Capabilities: Ability to work with CRM systems and maintain structured information relating to projects, stakeholders, and opportunities.
- AI Prompting Knowledge: Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to use effective prompting techniques for research, analysis, and content development.
- Microsoft Office Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Can-Do Attitude: A proactive, curious, and hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks.
Your Profile
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Architecture, Sociology, or another relevant field.
- Strong interest in smart cities, urban development, mobility, sustainability, innovation, or related urban topics.
- Interest or previous exposure to urban or mobility planning through academic, professional, research, or volunteer experience is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear and structured reports and presentations.
- Familiarity with project management and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of AI prompting and AI-assisted workflows.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Language requirement:
Fluent English is essential, and Spanish is highly valued.
- Ability to work effectively in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
Nice to Have The following skills and experience would be advantageous but are not essential:
- GIS expertise.
- Design and visual communication skills.
- Domain knowledge in energy, tourism, or related urban sectors.
- Professional experience in project management.
- Experience working with municipalities, city authorities, or other public-sector organisations.
- Familiarity with European funding programmes such as Horizon Europe or Interreg.
