(Junior) Associate Banking & Finance
Our client, Monard Law, is a leading Belgian law firm with offices across the country and a strong reputation for providing pragmatic, high-quality legal advice. For their Brussels office, they are looking to strengthen their team with a (Junior) Associate with a passion for Banking & Financial law.
In this role, you will work closely with clients active in the banking and finance sector and advise them on a broad range of complex legal matters. Thanks to the compact size of the team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your files and develop your expertise while working closely with experienced colleagues.
What will you do?
As a (Junior) Associate in Banking & Finance, you will advise clients on a broad range of banking and finance matters, combining strong legal expertise with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.
You will:
- Handle banking and finance files from A to Z, with significant responsibility from an early stage
- Advise clients on banking regulation, financial transactions and compliance matters
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and financial agreements
- Analyse complex legal and regulatory issues and translate them into practical solutions
- Assist clients in negotiations and, where relevant, litigation proceedings
- Stay up to date with developments in banking legislation and regulation
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and act as a trusted legal partner
- Contribute to the further growth and development of the Banking & Finance practice at Monard Law
What does the ideal candidate look like?
To succeed in this role, we believe you will have:
- A Master’s degree in Law from a Belgian university, preferably with distinction
- Ideally 2–6 years of relevant experience in Banking & Finance law,
although candidates with slightly less experience are also encouraged to apply
- A solid knowledge of banking law and regulations
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- A pragmatic, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented mindset
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of matters
- Fluency in Dutch and a very good command of French and English
- A strong client focus and the ability to build lasting professional relationships
- A healthy sense of humour and the ability to put things into perspective
