Overview
We are searching for a passionate, organized, and health-focused Cook for a high-profile family residence in the Pedralbes area of Barcelona.
The family prioritizes clean, organic, and highly nutritional home-cooked meals tailored to their dietary needs, focusing on exceptional quality and flavor rather than overly complex presentation.
This position is ideal for an experienced private household cook with a humble, team-oriented attitude who thrives on independence and takes genuine pride in feeding a family well.
You will be joining a supportive, respectful household known for taking good care of their staff, offering a stable, long-term position with guaranteed year-round income even while the family travels.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Planning & Sourcing:Take full ownership of designing, sourcing, preparing and serving balanced, organic, weekly menus (mostly lactose-free and gluten-free).
Conduct regular visits to local Barcelona markets, butchers, and fishmongers to source the highest-quality, freshest ingredients.
Meal Preparation & Service:Prepare daily lunches (served ~2:00 PM) and dinners (served ~7:00–8:00 PM) primarily for two adults and one young child, with occasional catering for small family or friend gatherings.
Off-Day Preparation:Plan, prep, and clearly label high-quality meals left in the fridge or oven for the family to easily reheat on your scheduled days off.
Kitchen & Pantry Management:Maintain total organization and immaculate hygiene across the kitchen, pantry, and fridge.
Ensure the culinary workspace is left completely spotless at the end of every shift.
Team Collaboration:Work harmoniously alongside other household staff (including the nanny) in a respectful, humble, and adaptable manner.
Requirements
Experience:Mandatory proven experience as a Private Chef or Cook in high-end private households.
Languages:Spanish essential, English beneficial.
References:Minimum of 2 written, contactable professional references.
Location:Must be a local candidate currently residing in or around Barcelona (accessible by public transport; having a personal car is preferred, though not mandatory).
Flexibility:Complete flexibility required to effortlessly adapt to the family's working schedule.
While mealtimes remain consistent throughout the week, days on/off will vary.
Culinary Passion & Mindset:Deep interest in nutrition, healthy cooking, and local ingredient sourcing.
A service-oriented flexible mindset, high degree of self-motivation, and a humble, collaborative attitude are essential.
Dietary Familiarity:Strong understanding of lactose-free and gluten-conscious meal design and preparation.
What Is Offered
Competitive Compensation:€47,500 gross per year, paid across 13 installments.
Full salary is guaranteed year-round, including during family travel periods when you are not required on-site.
Guaranteed Time Off:1 month of paid annual vacation (split during family travel in December and June), along with equal time off given if extra days are occasionally worked during peak periods.
Schedule Structure:4–5 working days per week with 2–3 adaptable days off (Tuesdays and Saturdays are fixed working days; Sundays, Mondays, and an optional weekday off are typical rest days).
Supportive Work Culture:A stable, respectful, and long-term private household environment (the previous cook remained with the family for 4 years until relocating).
