OFFER DESCRIPTION
The GGsolutions project is offering a part time position for an auxiliary technician to support the research focused on nature-based solutions for greywater treatment and reuse.
The role will involve the operation and monitoring of an experimental greenwall and/or hydroponic systems, the assessment of treatment performance, and the study of plant species, associated biodiversity, particularly insect communities, and ecosystem services.
The contract is part of the PID OB-C21 action, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Agency and, where appropriate, the European Union (Project GGSolutions – PID OB-C21 funded by MICIU/AEI/ / and by FEDER, UE).
KEY DUTIES
The part time auxiliary research services technician will be responsible for the operation, monitoring and analysis of experiments involving nature-based solutions for greywater treatment and reuse, particularly an experimental greenwall and/or hydroponic systems.
Activities will include the evaluation of treatment performance, the characterisation and monitoring of plant species, the assessment of associated biodiversity, particularly insect communities, and the evaluation of ecosystem services and environmental co-benefits provided by these systems.
The role may also involve participating in project meetings, and preparing technical reports and scientific publications. Additionally, like all team members, a small portion of time will be dedicated to shared laboratory maintenance and other collective tasks.
Minimum requirement: Intermediate Vocational Training qualification in areas related to the environment, natural resources or related disciplines
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering considered an asset.
Skills:
Knowledge of nature-based solutions;
Ability to design and conduct experiments related to water treatment and reuse;
Competence in the collection and analysis of water quality data, including standard greywater parameters,
as well as in the characterisation of plant species and the study of biodiversity;
Ability to prepare technical reports.
Required Languages:
English, Catalan and Spanish.
Required Experience:
Demonstrated experience in laboratory work and in the operation of nature-based solutions (green walls and/or hydroponic systems) for greywater treatment.
Experience in the processing and analysis of environmental samples (including water and plant material).
Experience in oral presentations and in the preparation of technical reports.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Creative and versátil, with a strong willingness to learn and expand scientific collaboration networks.
Experience in the characterisation of plant species, including physiological parameters such as chlorophyll content, and in the study of biodiversity associated with nature-based solutions, particularly insects.
